Erik Gunnar Asplund (b. Stockholm, Sweden 1885; d. Stockholm, Sweden 1940) Erick Asplund was born in Stockholm in 1885. Generally considered Sweden's leading architect, Asplund began his career as a painter before he studied architecture at the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm.
